first and foremost what was i doing at geylang? send my dad's shoe to the cobbler! haha. he's got his favourite shoe fixing place and apparently it is here. how awesome. it's called "hari hari datang buat kasut" also meaning "come everyday and make shoe". authentic name ehh situated at an authentic place. haha. at haig road. it's those by the road kind of shops so it's cool. so.....VINTAGE. haha. the cobbler was as vintage. apek in singlet sitting on a stool knocking on someone's shoe sole.
VANITY
yesterday i was awakened by shrill voice of my very beloved mother. " ADIK!!! BANGON! IKOT MAK PERGI PASAR!" and so i have to drag myself out of bed deprived of my beauty sleep as i slept at 5 am that morning. as usual i put on my uniformn to go to the market. yes uniform. my favourite pair of pants for pasar that matches with any top. couldn't be bothered with anything else. despite the fact that i am one who is pretty vain.
and so made our way there. with the big trolley which my mother often calls "trolley pasar" those that usually comes in 2 colours. red or blue. my mother went around with my sister while i tailed behind pushing the trolley, bumping into things and squeezing through the crowds though it was already afternoon. i expected lesser people. for the past few weeks i have been following my mother to the wet market and i noticed something. little girls dress up for wet market. i mean not that little. teenage girls. they wore thick make up. and one broke the record yesterday when i saw that she was wearing fake eyelashes. yes fake eyelashes. how can be i so sure? cause a part of it came off. WOW! what can self consciousness do to girls...
